Copenhagen Atomics
In the global race to decarbonize, Copenhagen Atomics stands out as one of the most ambitious and technically capable players in the field of advanced nuclear energy. This Danish company is developing a new class of molten salt reactors (MSRs) designed for mass manufacturing, modular deployment, and — most importantly — powered by Thorium.
Modular Reactors. Global Impact.
Their vision is simple but bold: build safe, compact reactors that can be shipped in standard containers and operated with minimal infrastructure. Each reactor can deliver high-temperature industrial heat or electricity, while consuming nuclear waste and dramatically reducing long-term radioactive storage problems.
Technology That Works for the Planet
Unlike traditional reactors, Copenhagen Atomics' design uses a liquid salt fuel that operates at atmospheric pressure. It’s walk-away safe, passively cooled, and designed to burn actinides — the long-lived materials in spent fuel — while generating clean power. Their systems are also designed to be autonomous and remotely monitored, reducing cost and risk.
Are They for Real?
Yes. They’ve built full-size reactor prototypes, secured millions in private funding, and are actively collaborating with the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland for their first chain reaction test (planned for 2027). They’ve also announced a smart business model: instead of selling reactors, they’ll deploy and operate them themselves, selling energy as a service to industrial customers.
Why We Support Them
At ChooseThorium.com, we believe innovation thrives when bold ideas meet practical engineering. Copenhagen Atomics has both. They’re building the infrastructure that could redefine nuclear — and we think that makes them worth watching, supporting, and celebrating.
